Screening / Panel Discussion

Posted on November 25, 2010

NOV 25 – I will be moderating a panel discussion on the 4th of December, and the announcement (on behalf of Tulir) is below. Do spread the word. Thanks.

Tulir – Centre for the Prevention and Healing of Child Sexual Abuse, along with Shakti Resource Centre, cordially invites you to a preview screening of two of the four films that comprise I AM, directed by Onir, at 6:30pm on Saturday, 4 December 2010, at the South India Film Chamber Theatre in Chennai.

I AM is about issues confronting modern Indian society and explores the struggles individuals encounter while finding their identity and upholding their dignity.

I am Abhimanyu is about an adult who has been sexually abused as a child, and I am Omar is an account of the complexities of a homosexual relationship unfolding over an evening and against prevailing attitudes and laws.

The 50-minute screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Onir, actor Arjun Mathur, advocate Geetha Ramaseshan, and will be moderated by film critic Baradwaj Rangan.

We consider this an opportunity not just to create more awareness about prevention and healing of child sexual abuse, but also to address the very bizarre, but very common, misunderstanding that conflates homosexuality and child sexual abuse.

Please contact 91+44+26192026, 26190771 or email for donor passes (Rs. 500/- per pass).

And please do forward, tweet, post this to whomever you think would be interested.

Thank you!
