FEB 7 – Much joy was brought me, this Monday morning, through this affectionate, knowing dissection of that gentleman’s gentleman known as Jeeves.

“I suppose it’s the “sir” that makes this so excruciating. I doubt whether any character in English has managed to get more work on that monosyllable than Jeeves did; on his lips it can go from respectful via quizzical to insolent.”

PS: More from the series, about Becky Sharp

PPS: … and Fagin, the villain of a novel I just couldn’t get enough of as a child. Along with the Arthurian legends, which might explain my inexplicable love for this film even.
