Spoilers ahead…
Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla (Nothing is Wrong If a Few People Benefit From It) takes its title after the famous line in Nayakan — but there’s a bit of a twist. In the Mani Ratnam film, the philosophy was framed around have-nots. The justification was that it was okay to stick it to the establishment that did nothing for you, because how else would you take care of the other have-nots around you?

You know what your reviews have become trailer versions of the reviews you used to write man with this Film Companion thingy!! Maybe to put in your lingo, these new reviews have just become a story of “if only”. If only the writer had spent giving more life to his words, if only he had been allowed to use more words, if only is he allowed to tease out the intricacies like he used to, if only…..
The foodie version of my rant:
Some hungry person knocks your door. You offer her the most tantalizing appetizer, and then say that’s all the feast is over!
The horny guy version of my rant:
Hindi – land khada toh karvataa hain. Par khade land pe dhoka!
Tamil – Aasa kaati mosam panardu
English – Wham Bham Thank you Maam!
I can go on like this…But what’s the point?

Jaga_jaga: Is the following a “trailer version of the reviews I used to write?”

Some films lend themselves to a certain kind of review. Some don’t.
You can’t just go on and on about a film just because you want a certain word count. People seem to be forgetting that even in the Hindu days, I used to write a lot of 500-600 word reviews. It’s not just a Film Companion thing.
PS: But I must say readers are consistent. When I moved to the Hindu, old Express readers wouldn’t stop about how my writing had changed and how they wished for the older BR, etc. 🙂

BR, Mani has been giving interviews to all and sundry on account of KV’s impending release. Where is your interview? Go on, break Chennai’s internet. Is there nothing coming?

It’s probably because of the font and UI of the film companion site. Your reviews seem different. And you seem to be writing a lot of them since joining FC, which is actually a good thing, but it doesn’t feel so because there’s no fulfilment in reading them. I’m left wanting more.
