I couldn’t be more excited about your move to FC — this type of digital content is priceless!
Thanks.
A humble request: I am really curious and interested about your interview process, and would love it (as, I am sure, would many regulars here) if you could someday write a piece on how you approach interviews. You have written articles of “advice” for aspiring film critics in which you elaborate about your own approach film criticism. Watching more and more of your interviews, my head’s been flooding with questions on how you approach interviews.
I am secretly hoping someone will interview Mr. Rangan! We have watching celebrity interviews for ever; nothing comes close to a Rangan product. How do you do that?!

I hope this interview is in Tamil.
Dhanush just doesnt seem comfortable in English at all.

Anupama Chopra did full Hindi interviews with Nagraj Manjule and Rinki Rajguru — I hope BR does full Tamizh interviews wherever appropriate!
On a different note, never really heard BR speak Tamizh.

@blurb: Here are two BR interviews, both for his books, in case you haven’t read them before. I especially remember the first one by jabberwock (Jai Arjun Singh) and was expectedly amazed by how fabulous it was.

And speaking of Dhanush, it is good to see him covering newer ground and all as a producer/director/star, but a lot of us probably miss his Maryan/ Aadukalam/ even Raanjhana days of being that very exciting(and unpredictable) performer.

I don’t quite get why tanglish is worse. I do find it difficult to follow hinglish manglish etc for a few minutes until I get used to the inner language of the person but after the few minutes I tune to what they are saying.
When Dhanush was speaking, I could see the simple Tamil guy in him is translating everything in his mind and then speaking. But it was still smooth. If I am not very wrong MOST of the readers of this blog speak only reasonably fluent English. Big Deal.

Is Tanglish, English spoken with a distinct Tamil accent (with or without Tamingling or even Tamangling)? If so, Dhanush’s English there did not sound odd (although he is no VM or MR).
Imaan, along with Remya Nambeesan, paid homage to one aspect of the Tamil “abuse” of English (of verbifying Tamil words in English; e.g. kadichify, thuppify etc.) in the song “Fy, Fy, Fy…”. Hard to tell which language suffered more when they joined hands for a Tamil-English anthimeria plunder 🙂
