Interview: Samantha

Posted on March 30, 2018

Everyone is talking about ‘Rangasthalam’ these days. The film, directed by Sukumar, has Samantha playing a villager, a first in her career, and the actress says it was an eye-opening experience. Prior to this, she has been part of several high profile films in Telugu and Tamil cinema, and starting from Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu in Telugu to Vijay and Suriya in Tamil, she has collaborated with some of the biggest names in South Indian cinema.

It goes without saying that Samantha’s rise to stardom in Telugu cinema is nothing short of a fairytale. After making her debut in Gautham Menon’s Ye Maya Chesave, the actress went on to act in several blockbuster films including Dookudu, Eega, Manam, A…Aa, Janatha Garage to name a few. Having ruled the roost for several years in the industry, she carved a niche for herself as the quintessential ‘cute girl’ of Telugu cinema, and she confesses that she made peace with her onscreen image instead of trying to change it.

In 2017, she got married to her longtime boyfriend and actor Naga Chaitanya; however, nothing much has changed in her professional life. In fact, she has gotten busier and in 2018 alone, she has at least five films slated for release in Telugu and Tamil.

With her latest Telugu film, Rangasthalam set to make a big splash, Samantha opened up about her career, life, making of Rangasthalam, and how life hasn’t changed much post-marriage.
