Dear readers, am on a break and may not be doing too much writing over the next few days. (You’ll see articles I’ve written earlier come up as and when they are published.) Wishing you all a very happy 2019. Cheers.

Happy new year Mr BR!.have a nice holiday. You have been spared the sadness of watching Zero.. can someone tell me that I will be alright. The movie second half feels like Himanshu Sharma smoked weed and wrote it BR.. it’s godawful. Iam sorry for venting off topic here but this is free therapy.. I am done screaming into a void.

Ennama thamizh pinniteenga..ayya br 🙂 loved that you were part of this fascinating experiment called seethakathi. I hope you write at length about the movie. I loved it. It was a beautiful elegy to the way art killed business. Loved how director ram talked about art being a swear word.

The year begins on a sad note with the passing away off Kader Khan
A good actor and wonderful writer who contributed a lot to the superstardom of Amitabh Bachchan dialogues like Aisa to aadmi life mein do heech time bhaagta hai… Olympic ka race ho ya phir police ka case ho. , will forever remain etched in memory. RIP

In four or five or six months’ time I was called by Manmohan Desai. He was making the film Roti. So he was fed up with some Urdu writers. He said, “I hate this language. These writers, they write all proverbs and muhaavrahs (figures of speech) and similes. I want my colloquial language. Nobody can write.”

There’s a reason why such kind of folks are dwindling in this age of BS social media/instagram/twitter..and what have you…
Where do you get folks having such deep thoughts? Look at what he said in the interview. He is interested in making folks read the holy book and ASK the Maulvis to point that out in the book!! Stunning! What a noble — which he’s not getting paid for anyway — endeavor!
I guess these things have to be intrinsic. You learn from life; you get beaten in life — AND then you write.
Kader Saab: RIP — Salute..
However, Bollywood biggies didn’t care to call him once during his ill-health. Son Sarfaraz Khan is upset with the way Hindi film industry has responded to the news of Kader Khan’s demise.
“There are so many people in the film industry whom my father was close to. But the one person that my father loved the most was Bachchan saab (Amitabh Bachchan). I’d ask my father whom he missed the most from the film industry and the answer promptly would be Bachchan Saab. And I know the love was mutual. I want Bachchan saab to know that my father spoke about him till the end,” said the doting son emotionally.

I finished watching YZ, the marathi movie on NETFLIX US. A stunner of a movie: Especially the second half. Sagar Deshmukh is fantastic as the virgin-guy with mid-life crises. The first half is not that great, it is good. The second half, literally soars as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. What characters! Akshay Tanksale as the philosopher BATTIS is a ‘havoc.’ Sai Tamhankar as the eternally-devoted Parnarekha is superb in her closeted avatar; a far-cry from the MILF in Hunter. Kamudi Walokar as Aarti is good. Parna Pethe as Antara is one symbol of eroticism — check out her Shakuntala dance and it raises the temperature like anything! [The entire song is in Sankskrit and by God, this song puts ALL the Sunny Leone clips in your New [folder] to shame]. Mukta Barve as Sayali is great in her tiny role. Nandita Joag is super as Sagar’s Moushi.
Highly, highly recommended. Add a couple of pints of GLEN when watching it, and the experience is terrific!
I have also provided a link to the MUST-WATCH marathi movies. I agree with the list..
Gem of a movie, highly, highly recommended.
And the icing on cake; my fav Pune never looked this good on screen…

A New Endeavor
On the eve of our country’s 70th republic day . Something strange has happened to me. I have gone and done something I thought I would never do, something that I have resisted doing for a long time : to start a blog of my own. So here is my little Cyber republic. I haven’t the faintest idea what exactly my ambitions are for the blog , how prolific I could be,etc etc…, guess I will figure it out as I go along. I heartily welcome my Guru Dronacharya : Baradwaj Rangan and all you good people here to my blog. It goes without saying that I will continue to post on this blog. Me, the writer was born here, was nourished here and will continue to stay here
My first post is dedicated to the 3 great loves of my life: my Mother , Motherland and movies. Hope you like it
