Instead of cluttering up the site, I am pasting all Venice-related links on this page.
Beginning with this review of BOMBAY ROSE:

Watched Gitanjali Rao’s Printed Rainbow. Didn’t quite like the story. The craft was solid though. Found the trailer of True Love Story quite evocative. Rousing music, sensuous visuals. Would love to watch Bombay Rose in theatre.

BR,
A kind request, please don’t bury your new posts among the comments. We don’t care if the site gets cluttered, your labour of love deserves better.

Haha, Sutheesh. These pieces have a limited readership, and those who want to read will find it anyway.

Every time you go on these Cannes, Venice etc trips, this site gets pretty dull. I don’t know about others but I am not very interested in international cinema. And more am I keen to know how Indian films do at these festivals. So I just have to wait for you to return to desh and start ripping apart our Desi films. 🙂

Glad you are doing these in-depth reviews, instead of those earlier film festival highlight episodes. Thankfully you seem to be breathing in, while writing these. Your earlier Film Festival Updates seemed often rushed, and one got the sense that you are going through too much to breathe and soak it in. I’ll catch up with Joker perhaps when we lesser mortals get a chance to see it.

My grouses were gone, replaced by gooseflesh. Or maybe we should say, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes…
Wow! The birdplay(sorry the word play) is so exquisite that it soars really high.

I agree with shaviswa that the blog gets dull. Not that I’m not interested in international cinema, just that these movies are watched only by BR and hence, not much of discussion happens around them.

BR, have you not seen Sacred Games 2?
I presume you haven’t…because I can’t fathom how one can sit still after watching it?
It’s certainly the best writing I’ve come across in recent times. Definitely needs your review!

BR “BOMBAY ROSE is anything but a masala movie ”
Ah too bad, an animated masala movie would be great. Masala or not, I still want to see it, from your review, it sounds amazing.

Without having watched J’accuse, though based on your review it seems fascinating, i am curious about something BR.
It is indeed valid to separate the personal life of artist and the art they create and to experience it, but what if the art is in coherence with his personal life and makes it difficult to not indulge the perspectives of his past. Obviously direction and making coming from an auteur like Polanski can be intriguing at any given day and from your review, it seems thats what been the case. Still, whats your take on that.
I also came to know it received standing ovation, which is quite surprising. Does the recent woke acquisition of’ Hollywood’ has something to do with it and influenced the critics? 😛
