Nice interview. I am very happy to see that he is finally getting the continuous box office success that he so richly deserves for making movies like Poo.
The discussion about casting was quite interesting and I wish that such questions are asked to other directors. I am especially puzzled by the casting of Arya for Kaapaan.
Potential Spoiler for Kaapaan ahead:
As per the trailer, Mohan Lal is the PM whom someone is trying to kill. Arya is his son and Surya is the SPG trying to protect the PM. The movies revolves around who is trying to kill the PM. My bet would be that Arya is involved because hey why else would he agree to do this movie?? If I am right, casting Arya itself would be a blunder. For its 2hrs 46 mins runtime, I desperately hope that I am wrong and that the movie has a more convincing twist.

Great interview BR.
Nisaptham Vaa.Manikadan wrote recently about his involvement in Sivappu Manjal Pachai’s story discussion. Director Sasi speaks exactly like the way Manikandan has described. Sasi comes across as a simple, affable, down to earth person. Good luck to him.

Eswar: That sounds so much like the Sasi I met. 🙂

I remember being very impressed with Sollamale when it first released. It was one of those accidental finds in the Roobini/Ragini/Rugmini theatre complex. As a fan of Livingstone’s villainy/comedy in the past, this movie was a good validation of his serious acting chops.
But I wonder how the movie has dated now …

BR, have you ever reviewed Poo? It would be lovely to have a conversation here revisiting that amazing film. Maybe an ask BR segment?
