Haven’t watched the interview entirely yet, but would like to make a humble suggestion. Given the dearth of content due to these pressing times making it substantially hard to find new interesting ideas to write on, I wish that you, @brangan sir would take this opportunity to undertake an in depth substantial interview of Kamal sir, possibly as a sequel to your previous article series on him, covering his film career like the four part Mani Ratnam interview. Given his involvement in politics, it could be very difficult later on.

BR: Just curious. Why does FilmCompanion not approach the Superstar? I’d love an interview with him. Or is it that Rajini doesn’t give such interviews?

I feel I am intruding into a private conversation you had with him. He is so relaxed. Questions are good (coming here from the live chat, you are refreshing) his answers are oblique and has enough fodder for repeat listening. I still have 15 minutes left. But too sleepy right now. Thanks. Just what I wanted now.

+1 for Aman’s comment- no one has ever done a focused interview on the massive screen writing talent Kamal is. People forget he is a movie maker first, an actor second. An interview in that line would be perfect if he is in the mood for it.

Yet to watch the video, but going to drop a link here to a story I wrote about my dad’s days with Rajiv Menon. It got them talking again after a long time… And incidentally, Kamal sir makes a cameo appearance in the story. 🙂

As a role model, somebody should tell him, not to touch his face so many time in these carona times.

Adhithya, I left a comment on your blog but writing in here as well to say this was a beautiful, beautiful read. You have inspired me to write about my own experience of finally getting a chance to talk to one of my favourites. No, not ‘HIM’ and I would have to say that the very thought of talking to him fills me with intense trepidation. Somebody else from across the oceans. On the off chance that the person behind the artist turns out to be a wonderful human being, it can be extremely life-affirming.

So this is ‘my’ story. But it isn’t about me as you will learn when you read it. The person in question isn’t exactly one you would regard as famous (though her work means the world to her small but loyal collection of fans). But the experience was memorable for reasons that would become clear by the end (at least I hope).

Finally made it through the interview. Was crazy busy last couple of days (little less so today 😛 ). And it is rather difficult to listen to Kamal speak. But the message he concluded it on was poignant and I really could not agree more. On a similar note, my wife has been learning Carnatic vocals at a nearby academy and I attended their annual day program. The itinerary was too vacha-vacha and after her performances were through, both of us got restless. But we had been told that the chief guest for the day, a Hindustani vocalist and a one time AIR artist, would sing at the end of the program. We nearly decided to leave before his performance but then they announced that he would sing and we stayed back. He didn’t sing a ‘shudh’ Hindustani composition but the song Dhanya Bhag Seva Ka from the film Sur Sangam (Hindi remake of Shankarabharanam). His performance was so mesmeric it washed away our irritation at the lengthy and time consuming itinerary. As Kamal said, it’s the memory that you take back from such experiences, from that which such great artists have to give. Fortunately, they had video shooting so there is a decent video record of the ‘memory’ as well.
