BR, this is right there at the top of your best interviews, excellent Qs and As! You aptly stated at the end – she did a wonderful job of articulating the process. Your interviews with the current gen actresses have been really good (Aishwarya Rajesh, Sai Pallavi and now Rajisha). You had mentioned the Sai Pallavi Interview as one of the most satisfying of last year, so is this the most satisfying of this year so far? 🙂
Random thoughts…
Nimisha, Rajisha, Aparna, Unnimaya, Darshana,Aishwarya…Malayalam movies are accepting only very local looking, tanned, mallu speaking actresses who aren’t too westernized, are well versed in Malayalam, who don’t wear western dresses or too much makeup. This is in such contrast to Telugu men who prefer only perfect looking, westernized whitewashed North Indian heroines in their movies.
Excessive troll culture in Kerala is very indicative of how convoluted an average mallu man’s mind is. Mallu actresses who speak in English, wear modern dresses or makeup & are too posh-looking are targetted& insulted. But the funny thing is these same trollers never target male actors like DQ etc for their accented malayalam, English etc.
The trolling culture of men in Kerala is very telling of their feelings of inadequacy, insecurity in their desi-ness, and of the gargantuan ego that makes them put down successful women who are doing better in life than themselves.

This was definitely one of the better interviews in this channel. She knew her stuff and articulated very well. Pleasure to listen to.

BR
At around the 2:50 mark, you used the word segway. Did you mean to say segue because contextually I felt that segue was the appropriate word.
Please correct me here if I am wrong.

@shaviswa: Isn’t the pronunciation for “segue”: “segway”?

I think it is pronounced seg-ya and not seg-way
Yeah kind of nitpicking but BR gets his pronunciation right almost always and I found this one oddly not.
Or maybe I just didn’t hear it properly.

I must confess I haven’t watched any movies of Ms.Vijayan up until now.
But I’m truly enamored by her passion towards cinema and a refreshing candor in her responses.
Looking forward to Karnan for three reasons now 🙂
