Listening as you talk about Nayagan. Would you say Untouchables is comparable in terms of a kind of all round everyone-firing-on-all-cylinders project? I realize there are lots of Hollywood films that are great in every department technically but there is a kind of balance between all elements in Untouchables without one overshadowing the rest or hogging the limelight.
Overall, the series was fantastic. Yes, we are going through a period of tremendous change. I posted this elsewhere but the world changed a lot more from 2010 to 2020 than 2000 to 2010. Streaming was yet to take off in 2010, Blackberry was still considered a smartphone, CDs were still being sold and book shops were alive. Cut to 2020 and music stores are completely extinct, book shops are going that way rapidly, smartphone tech has exploded and streaming is now seen as a legit competitor to cinema halls (it already was pre pandemic and that’s going to accelerate if it hasn’t already). I would sum it up as – an exciting time for consumers and not so exciting for the makers. Which means the makers have to find different ways to compete or altogether different things to do.
This was such a pleasure to listen to. Raunaq is really good at letting the other person talk and finish his thoughts while knowing when to step in and steer if necessary. It was inspiring hearing about BR’s initial struggles (about interviewing tile manufacturers for pocket money, etc). Hats off to both of you for your determination in chasing your dreams.
