At 16.17, Ranjith almost says “Dalit”, but checks himself!
Is that because he does not want to be branded as some one who makes only Dalit cinema? Or does he not want to alienate his future producers in Bollywood? Either way, it’s interesting why he of all people, choose to avoid saying the D word.

Ranjith doesn’t need to make movies to entertain or enlighten people. Even 3 hour interviews with him can deliver the same results. He doesn’t shy away from sensitive issues and is able to represent his POV very boldly and clearly without worrying about the repercussions. The sort of conviction this man has about his ideology is ironically lacking in many of our mainstream political parties. I always felt that many of our lily-livered heroes and film makers of the past chose not to depict political nuances in their mainstream movies to prioritize commercial success over accurately reflecting prevailing social conditions.

BR can you please not post the previous comment. The post key got hit halfway through while I was typing.
Anupama looks like an employee who woke up just in time for a work video call.
But kudos to her for showing up for an interview in a language that she doesn’t know (were there text translations running on the screen for her as well? Because she looks like she is reading something off the screen.)
