I have always viewed Krish’s Telugu films, with the exception of Gautamiputra Satakarni, as an ode to humanity and I am glad to hear him say something similar. The very end of Vedam, where a kid calculates the correct compound interest before a money lender and leaves with his grandfather, is a visual I will remember for the rest of my life.
I really wish post Harihara Veeramallu, he returns back to making these earthy dramas. Not that I discourage grandeur, but only a few filmmakers in Telugu can tell stories that reach the heart before the eye and the mind.

Oh boy, can’t disagree more BR. First of all, dialogues were super jarring. They were just plain… bad. Who speaks like this? Immediately felt a disconnect, didn’t even feel like watching ahead. Certainly a huge downgrade from the original. And I don’t really mind “commercializing” films more, but this was just, ugh.
Even with the acting, it’s more “acting” which caused more disconnect. This would’ve worked in some other film, but the whole reason Andhadhun really sucked me in was the general deadpan-ness (the second half aside) + more natural performances from almost all the leads + the sync sound with the ambiance. Made it just insane fun and “real” with the absurdities unfolding. This didn’t work for me at all, and the few fun scenes doesn’t really make it worth watching, esp to someone who’s already watched Andhadhun.

Also thought Mamta hit all the wrong notes IMO, pretty one-dimensional. Dialogues and delivery by almost everyone was awful – just reading the already bland and generic lines in a most generic way.
All this aside, they made a lot of wrong choices while changing stuff, lost a lot of subtexts that made Andhadhun so fun to watch. Take for instance the walking stick, which worked as a simple reference to the rabbit story/incident, but also as the duck-rabbit imagery as a metaphor – the boar thing just missed that completely. I’d rather have watched a dubbed version tbh.

Prithviraj ,funnily enough, would have been a great choice for Andhadhun itself (not taking away from AK’s sincerity or commitment to playing much of the piano himself). Prithvi was cheekier and little more of a loveable rogue here.
Unni and Ananya ,as also the small time crooks were well cast too. Mamata and Raashi though were pretty much dispensable – surely ,surely there were better actors who could have been cast. I realize they are up against memories of Tabu and Radhika, but still too one dimensional to make an impact .
Can’t fault the ‘glitz’ RKC as the cinematographer brings to the pool but otherwise pretty much just a serviceable remake . I wonder if (like Dev D for eg) if the writers would try to really reimagine the script/story(as opposed to the final movie),what we could have had instead .
