Totally unrelated.I just finished reading your conversations with Mani Ratnam ! you were meant to do this ….. selling your Ferrari and becoming a monk.
As someone who can understand both tamil and telugu and having seen most of mani ratnam’s films in both languages, I wish you had asked him about the dubbing process he does with the actors . All of his films are dubbed into telugu with such perfection that growing up I didn’t even think of it as a dubbed film . The dialogues are so well said and the song’s lyrics are so fantastically translated that they seem so much better to hear than the original Tamil itself . no one has come this close to perfection in dubbing since the eighties !
The producer of geetanjali was our neighbour back in my hometown growing up , even then I always wanted to have a chat with him about the film and mani ratnam , never had a opportunity to do so .

Is patting your thighs/hands becoming your favourite habit while doing these videos? I see this across most of your recent movies. I guess it is giving you the momentum to speak in one flow.

If it is a short film like this, do they still have the mandatory 15 min interval? in theater screenings that would be really dumb if that were the case

I have seen English films being abruptly stopped to let people go out for the mandatory interval 🙂

@shaviswa: That is the worsht-u. Especially when you’re watching some tense Hollywood thriller and the frame suddenly freezes and lights come on for the interval

I loved this review. The way you have described the shots made me look at it differently. I watched this little film and liked most of it though i found it a bit too simple and agree it could have been shorter. VS’s daughter is quite perfect, having almost more screen presence than her father, naturally dominating every scene she is in. VS is characterized as almost too benevolent and patient. It could be because he has a very strange, no pressure but apparently well paid job, sitting at a desk without a computer or even a piece of paper and doing nothing.
I felt this was like a little instruction pamphlet for being a good husband and father.
