Man, I’m super super disappointed he couldn’t cast Rajni for this role. That would have been something. Wish more of our stars will be open to such projects. It’s a different kind of fun to see stars perform in such movies, a whole universe removed from their usual thing. Rajni would also have blown it out of the park, I think.

And I loved this almost poetic statement by Vijay Sethupathi –

I loved this interview! Thank you for doing this and conducting the interview beautifully, BR. There is something about listening to Tamil directors like Manikandan, Mysskin, Ram, Pa Ranjith, Mari Selvaraj and people like VJS- where what they talk about goes beyond the technicalities of cinema and is more about life itself and often philosophical. And, I often do not get to see that in the interviews of Hindi filmmakers/actors (maybe I haven’t seen enough – any recos there?)

@ramesh Krishnan: haha, I watched this over the weekend and came here to say that. Tbh, I didn’t think it ended that well either, based on VJS’ reaction in an earlier interview with rangan.

This was an excellent interview. Both VJS and Manikandan were super comfortable talking through the process that went into the making of this film. I am more curious to see this now.
