It’s not surprising that Dhanush has starred in a not-so-good film. On a good day, you get Karnan or Asuran. On a bad day, you get Naiyaandi or Thodari. What is surprising though is that Karthick Naren has made the film and it seems to me that D16 was a fluke.

Nothing worked for me in the movie. Even Dhanush seemed to be sleep-walking through the parts.
As you said, there was definitely a sense of ticking off a checklist of screenplay points but even those scenes were predictable and dated. For example, did we need the first 15mins at all? Father is an investigative journalist who’s killed on the same day as his wife giving birth to a baby, who also dies in childbirth. What were they thinking?
I think you were very generous in your review. You should have torn this “movie” to shreds. What a waste of time this garbage was.

ROFL on your title 😀 3 movies of big actors in a row with dud stories.

Am I the only one who feels that Karthik Naren is overrated? Even his so called hit movie D16 was so full of itself and just not worthy. Using Hollywood-ish themes and storylines aren’t going to make a movie tick without a proper screenplay.

If we had to time-travel to the times when BR wrote puns in headlines, I wonder what would have been the headline for this: Maar-dala?
I am sucking at it now. Need to think through this on monday morning.

Hi BR,
Sorry for an unrelated question. Did you get a chance to watch Licorice Pizza? Such an interesting film from PTA.

@BR – I don’t usually post off-topic comments, but please review Badhaai Do, if possible. I believe we have got a superb filmmaker in Harshvardhan Kulkarni to handle sensitive topics. He did it with Hunterrr, and excels yet again with Badhaai Do.
Also, to convince you further, it has got great songs as well by Amit Trivedi.

The movie that drove BR to quit FC South! (that’s probably not the real reason OFC but that’s going to be my headcanon from now on 😉 )
