No nails are going to be bitten to shreds. But at least, the crimes involving schoolgirls are gruesome enough that we want the perpetrator caught.
What’s with the spelling of this film’s title? The earlier movies with this name – the one with Jeetendra and Mumtaz, and before that, the one with Vyjayanthimala and Balraj Sahni – spelt it as “Kathputli”, which is closer to the pronunciation of the Hindi word, which means “puppet”. So let me get into the spirit of detection, like supercop Akshay Kumar here, and try to crack the mystery. One, they didn’t want the spelling of this film’s title confusing the millions and millions of viewers who still remember the older ones. But then, that’s the obvious solution, isn’t it? And the answers to mysteries in the movies are rarely obvious. So here’s my theory about this remake of Ram Kumar’s Tamil film, Ratsasan. Akshay Kumar is after a serial killer who slashes his victims. Get it? He cuts them… hence, Cuttputlli.

Ahh man! Looking at the trailer, I commented on a different thread that they’d actually done away with the needless assistant director part. But looks like the team has gone for an “ee-adichaan copy” methodology.
I’d read somewhere that even the director of Raatsasan had to write that idea into the script once Vishnu Vishal came on-board. The protagonist was originally supposed to be a beat-down 40 something cop-constable who cracks a case due to his obsession with serial killers. Team Cuttputlli had an opportunity to do something similar considering the age of Akshay Kumar, but hey!

I actually want to see this, (for a change with Canada Kumar) but only to see how you can mess this story up. At this point, I’m sure Bhagnanis are doing money laundering, how are they making these films without a hit in 20 years?

Not that film-making has an eligible age criteria, isn’t he a little too old for the ‘aspiring film-maker’ trade, especially one that later becomes a cop (I think you need to be under 30 to apply for that).
Also, “He cuts them… hence, Cuttputlli.”
That was punny. I suspect the real reason is more in the vein of numerology. Mainstream Bollywood is desperate now. I suspect we’ll see announcements of 1-week and 2-week jubilees.

Very bad reviews.He is not understanding anything.If he make film then he will know Kutputli is excellent movie with outstanding work of all character but really wins the heart is super star of millennium Akshay Kumar.

BR, I don’t know where else to post this but the Galatta page where the main review appears is really disheartening, with a button titled “Actress Gallery” screaming at you while reading intelligent and sensible reviews like yours. Similar are the thumbnails at the bottom of the same page. Haven’t we all moved from such baits? I know you might not have a say in the page layout and I have blocked the content with a blocker, but then, I’m just ranting.
