Ever since his directorial debut, Siddharth Anand has consistently brought out the best of Vishal-Shekhar. Yet, I’m kind of skeptical as to how he would fit five songs in Fighter, without sacrificing the tone of the film. (In that case, could he pull off a Gautham Menon?)

Bura na mano Holi hai. It’s such a delight to celebrate Holi though I don’t think the people on this blog would enjoy the music that was played per public demand 🙂 While we’re at it, our inhouse music expert @Madan, what do you think of the Pathaan album? I liked Besharam Rang which went on to become such a rage that the Holi event I attended was named Besharam Rang (must have given a lot of heartburn to people). Or maybe just Deepika in it 🙂
I didn’t like Jhoome Jo Pathaan when it first came but after watching it in the movie, it’s become an addiction and I am not letting go of any opportunity to pull off that hook step. (Record being me doing it 10 times in 3 hours 🙂

Aman Basha: I thought both songs were pretty meh but then, they clearly weren’t meant for me.

Pathaan didn’t really needed those 2 songs especially Besharam Rang , which felt like an elevator music with lyrics.
It was so terrible that even Deepika’s hotness didn’t do it for me..

I haven’t yet watched Pathan (sacrilege, I know!) but I’d thoroughly enjoyed War. I did like this interview, however.
Unfortunately, while Besharam rang worked for me as a song even if it wasn’t the greatest, the picturisation left me aghast. How do you make DP look ugly? And SRK in this newly gaunt (from OSO days), abs-flashing avatar does little to entice me to the theatre.
And I just watched the episode of The Romantics where SRK confesses that the last ‘action scene’ in DDLJ was due to his coercion. I wanted to kick him – that scene just made an already-irritating film slip into I-Hate-It territory. Though I remember that my nephew used to love the songs – and would come running to see his ‘Kajol chechi whenever Tujhe dekha to ye jaana sanam played on screen.

BR, now I’m scared for you because you said Vijay is part of the LCU. Fans have been coming up with crazy theories about every thing related to LEO, on whether it will be LCU or not
I hope they don’t take this snippet out and go on rampage

He talks about community participation. Laughing together, guessing together but crying together? Are people really okay crying as a community? I would rather watch emotional movies alone than with anyone else.

I trust Madan to express my opinion on music more succinctly and effectively than I can. 😊

Vishal Shekhar gave some great music at the start of their career starting with Pyar Main Kabhi Kabhi followed by Jhankaar Beats, Shabd, Anjaana Anjaani, and a few others. Now they are mostly doing stylized dance music in glitzy locations and as fillers in between high-action shots. I wouldn’t say it’s entirely their fault. That’s what the producer demands as does the audience and that’s where the money is.
