Spoilers ahead…
The leads share zero chemistry, and Ranbir looks strangely lost in this zone. But – for the record books – Luv Ranjan attempts something stylistically interesting.
Remember the Will Smith character in Hitch, the one who helped helpless men woo women? Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Luv Ranjan’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar – he’s named Mickey – is the polar opposite. He is a break-up specialist. Give him some money and he – with his small team – will help you get out of a relationship. In the title number, he sings: Ek baar hi kiya yaaron to pyaar kya kiya /Pyaar hota hota hota kai baar hai. (Why fall in love just once when you can fall in love with many people many times.) That would make him the makkaar, the cad, of the title – but here’s the thing. Mickey is really a sweetie pie. He loves his large family, and even in his “business”, he only breaks couples up after one of them has taken a solemn oath that he/she is no longer in love with the other person. So he’s really saving this other person from a bad relationship.

The only thing that stood out to me in the very corny trailer was that the songs were composed by Pritam. At a time when multi-composer soundtracks filled with mindless remixes and templatized soggy meloides, it feels nice to see only one person compose all the songs.

I always imagined what Soori would do when given a serious role. This is definitely spot on.
Also, the film seems to be like Visaranai, but taken from the constable’s POV.

Luv Ranjan does not know women, let alone understand them – his women are always unidimensional, not to mention that he does his male characters no favours either – they are the most misogynistic characters essayed on screen.
Is this any different?
[p.s. I am disappointed to read there’s no chemistry between the two leads; I kinda sorta liked them both in the trailer.]

Loved the movie, it has a beautiful message .
Having grown up in a joint family , maza aa gaya picture dekh kar.
Everyone our age should make their kids watch this movie.
Ranbir Kapooer , Bassi , Dimple and Dadi are superb. Boney Kapoor is wasted . Shraddha looks a bit misfit in her role.

Re.-The film’s biggest problem is that its central problem is not that big a problem at all. It could have been fixed with some talk, instead of the insanely convoluted route that’s taken.
I felt this exactly with Gulmohar . the problem/ twist is so illogical and senseless and unreal, aisey thodey naa hota hai.

I know TrueCaller can get so irritating that people uninstall it, but then to totally avoid it so as to make a movie plot exist, is a bit much
