In YouTube content created out of India, #Naam /#Naam2 are smash hits, by Singapore-Tamils. (They are far better crafted than serials made here.) Actor/creator T Suriavelan @suria_velan speaks about #Naam2 and the Singapore Tamil media @galattaplusofflhttps://t.co/mxZZYpwuPo
That Adipenne song – both Duet & Dad love version – was a good find! It’s also cool that the same lyrics worked for both versions, without being sleezy or creepy.
Production values (understandably) felt a tad bit lowkey.
BR, having lived in Singapore for over a decade and familiar with the local tamil TV serials there, I can definitely vouch that the content in Singapore tamil serials are way ahead content wise than what we currently see in Indian TV channels. The serials there are short and run for only a couple of months. The story content is not just family oriented, but its pretty wide. There was a serial few years back called Vettai, which was a thriller with cops and crimes. Similarly, there were serials with schools/colleges as background targeting audience such kids and teenagers. There are serials for young adults with relationships, jobs etc. Of course, the film making or technical craft definitely is not on par with what we have in India though.
