“A lengthier masterclass with Siva Ananth is due, given PS2 has come out, and PS admittedly being the toughest film to make. Would be interesting to know from him how they pulled off the impossible – putting together such a huge project with an ensemble cast is a task in itself, but add to it the COVID which basically disallows everything this film needed.”
I posted this in the Sriram-Shridhar interview thread. Don’t want to take undue credit, but sometimes wishes do come true. Thanks for this, BR.
Loved the deep dive into the logistics of a mega production – seems like something that would make good fodder for a business school case 😉 . Siva Ananth did a splendid job of breaking it down with specific examples – thanks brangan!
Not sure if you have the appetite for this (or your viewers do for that matter!) but it would be great to have Eka Lakhani and Pratiksha Prashant talk about their process for Costume and jewelry.
And as a supply chain professional, I can affirm to how familiar the issues sounded. The sets of a big budget film would appear to offer as much of a logistics challenge as FMCG!
Hahaha! Not that interesting at all. I’ve been on the compliance side and also handled freight forwarding for exports for years; people just assume I must be in hardcore finance because I am a CA. Supply Chain was just a logical extension from my previous work.
My experiences in Zimbabwe as such, OTOH, could fill up a novella.
Thank you BR for documenting how the enormous “monster” is tamed.
Having been part of a small independent movie making 8 years ago, I understand how hard this work is.
No wonder Jeyamohan is in awe of Siva and team’s work here https://www.jeyamohan.in/181017/
Fantastic interview. Lots of insights into production. This kind of systematized producing needs to be taught in India through film schools, seminars, internships, mentorship programs, etc.
How organized is film production in the various film industries today?
Speaking of Rahman’s globetrotting work for the music, I’d love to learn about the rationale behind why certain work is done in London, Dubai, Los Angeles, etc. I don’t know of any interviews with Rahman or his coordinators that go into such logistics.
