I get a lot of requests to watch short films, and I thought I’d use the blog to showcase some of them — this one’s called Kankaanikkum Maranam, adapted from a short story by Azhagiya Periyavan and directed by M Arikarasudhan. Most short film makers concentrate on plot, but this one’s also very well directed, with attention to atmosphere and composition. You hardly feel you’re watching something made using a digital camera. There’s air and light and space, the cinematic equivalent of “literariness.” Hope you like it too.

That was interesting.
I have seen a fair few of these short films but this one was really good.

ramitbajaj01: “Brief Reel” was suggested by tonks.
Rohit: It’s a bonanza of regional releases this week. Thithi. U-Turn. Kammatipaadam. Brahmotsavam.

Hey could somebody explain this movie to a dumbass like me? I couldn’t understand what was happening. For starters, who was that shady character who creeped around at night? Okay, I admit, I have questions about every scene. I have a gut feeling that there’s probably some nice meaning to it all, but I am nowhere close to getting it. Help!

KadaKumar ku oru +1!
Edho different ah irundudhu ana enna ne purila.
Was his wife killed? Or did she die because she was possessed?
And finally is he relieved to see her through his sister-in-law?
