That ‘how do you manage to maintain your looks/green tea/vegan’ question.. just was cringe here BR. I mean, it clearly doesn’t belong here IMO. Not that it’s a question about his looks/fitness, but rather the question in specific.
And also, the nepotism thing – the phrasing already is a bit loaded, i.e. it seems like you’ve already exonerated (so to speak) them of that criticism. Could have perhaps just asked his take on nepotism instead (as bland it might be, even now his response is the usual template response that you get from the stars who benefit from nepotism), rather than implying (at least a bit, that’s how it came across as anyway) that there’s inconsistency/hypocrisy in targeting actors for nepotism etc.
I love you Brangan, but that question about nepotism sucked .
Now i understand that you don’t consider nepotism a big issue in films and i fully respect your stand on it. But the way you phrased it, or rather you were answering it for him than asking the question was so unlike you. Felt like you were sucking up and i emphasise ‘Felt like’, not that i believe you were. Your question made me wish that you hadn’t brought up that subject at all
Because,,,..Nepotism is too light a word to describe what’s going on in Telugu film industry. Its a mafia , cosa Nostra. Its straight outta Godfather . Five families controlling the whole business . Foisting their sons, grandsons, nephews, whatever,… on the masses. Which explains why no star of any worth has emerged in the industry after chiranjeevi. Apart from a Mahesh Babu, who is a big improvement on his father, rest are all diminished versions of their fathers , who themselves are diminished versions of their fathers.
The two sons of Nagarjuna, about whom he is so concerned – my god all that pressure of being his children and grandchildren of ANR and all , have absolutely no business being in films (neither did he nor the great Balayya, son of NTR, ). they are pathetic.. His younger son’s big debut was a complete washout that bankrupted the distributors, yet he has managed to mount another one for his beloved son, which is again a flop, though i dont think they would agree. No doubt, he will soon be seen in another big film, then another and five years down the line he would have scored a hit and had become the big star. In between the father would keep doing films for a discount to appease the distributors , so that they would fund his son’s next venture. This is how the star-son system work in Telugu.
I only hope that the new gen film movement that is slowly blooming in the industry would, if not overthrow , but at least provide an interesting a powerful alternative to this star-son system and we would have more guys like Vijay Devarakonda
Srinivas, I guess through movies that nobody else wants to do. Which star or star son would play Arjun Reddy. And there is always a ceiling to their stardom.

Found this two part interview pretty bland. Nothing new, no insights.
He was a beneficiary of nepotism – and so are his sons. No way is he going to accept the charge 🙂
I liked him in Payanam. Wish he acted more in films like that.

@MANK – how does someone like Nani or Vijay get through if the system is bad as you suggest it is? Not questioning your view, just wondering.
