About meta references, I’m surprised you missed “chand taare tod lau” as it is what he literally does in Zero and SRK-Juhi-Amrita in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman being the SRK-Anushka-Katrina here. I may be stretching it but doesn’t Mere Naam Tu have similarities with Ae Kaash Ke Hum, on the last I’ll let the music experts opine.

This could potentially be a fantastic series.
Some films that I would like to see (based on your blog reviews):
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
Raavan(an)
Kadal
Kaatru Veliyidai
Delhi-6
No Smoking
Jaan-e-Mann
Tamasha
Not a Love Story
etc.

I had mixed feelings about Zero (especially the unpopular second half) but I did feel that it was overtly hated by the critics & audience alike. Didn’t enjoy it as much as BR did though!
However, I will concur with the commenter who said that BR’s video essay is so eloquently put that it could even convince one that the Earth is flat!

@Sri Prabhuram great list, although it’s better for the world if Kadal isn’t discussed that much more.

Loved this video! Zero is my all time favorite Shah Rukh Khan movie. The way it literalizes the “flight of fantasy”, shoots for the stars, and actually gets there, just top notch writing! The absurdities were inventive and still felt organic. And it works so well at a plain storytelling level, too! I cannot, for the love of God, understand the cold response it received.

Hi BR, wow…. You articulated everything about the film that I had loved but wasn’t able to… Thank you for this… Btw, someone from the film crew is known to me, I have shared the video link with them and requested them to share it with Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Joshi, they have promised to do so…
Thanks again for this 🙂
